Ce devait être un arc de triomphe de la même grandeur et de la même forme que celui de la porte Saint-Martin, à Paris, autant que j’ai pu en juger d’après les fondations. Ce vieux débris de la puissance romaine existait encore, m’a-t-on assuré, il y a six ans, et il n’a été détruit que par le fanatisme d’un pacha, qui le croyait bâti par des chrétiens.</seg> |
