hey there, i've never heard of xet versus git lfs , but i'm using the datasets library a lot and would love to learn more and test it out if it's open for testing

Xet Storage is gradually transitioning from internal testing to general availability as we silently migrate existing Git LFS files to Xet files in the background! For example, https://huggingface.co/TheBloke/Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.2-GPTQ/tree/main has been successfully migrated. Stay tuned as we integrate with huggingface_hub, allowing everyone to upload to HF using Xet technology!
